Cargo village

Investment Value : ± IDR 1,3 Trillion / ± USD 86.7 Million
Location : Kertajati Airport, Kertajati, Majalengka, West Java, Indonesia
Business Scheme : Private Call

A Cargo village means a place that specializes in handling cargo. The West Java Provincial Government's plan to encourage Kertajati Airport as a logistics center can be started by establishing the airport as a cargo aircraft hub.

Observer and practitioner of the cargo business, Ferry Nursuardi, said that West Java's plan to make Kertajati Airport a logistics center was right, although the process could not be done all at once. According to him, if Kertajati is designated by the government as a freighter hub for international and domestic purposes, then his party will ensure that the logistics business will automatically move to the KJT coded airport. He admitted that with cargo business people, they had discussed the possibility of shifting cargo services from Husein Sastranegara Airport and parts of Soekarno-Hatta to Kertajati.

According to him, the determination of Kertajati Airport as a logistics flight center has a number of advantages. First, reducing traffic congestion to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, secondly, Kertajati can reduce logistics costs. He calculated that the potential for international cargo that could be served by Kertajati Airport would allow the airport to take a deep breath if it worked on a potential cargo of 550 tons per week or 2,200 tons of cargo per month. The existing cargo terminal is only able to accommodate 31,545 tons of cargo per year.

The Cargo Village area will be equipped with integrated facilities that meet international standards to ensure smooth, safe, effective, and efficient air cargo shipping operations.

Kertajati Aerocity is an integrated business and industrial area with a 3.480 Ha development. The development of Aerocity is expected to drive economic &  industrial growth in the surrounding area so that it can provide business opportunities and traffic potential for the Airport.

Good access from the airport to the development of Aerocity is very crucial to ensure the affordability of the airport terminal. Currently, there is no direct transportation access from the development of Aerocity Kertajati to the airport or vice versa. Therefore, to optimize its role as Aerocity, the things that need to be considered are accessibility and utility in each cluster of Kertajati Aerocity.
